Zahra Enterprises Ltd was formed by Antonio Zahra and his three sons Carlo, Paul, and Mario in 1975, after Antonio had been working on windmills and other machines since 1955. Through the importation and installation of Aermotor windmills and the importation and repair of Brumi motor hoes, the company immediately established its reputation for high quality service. Soon after, the firm introduced and started importing electric-run water pumps, irrigation pipes and machinery.
Due to growing demand and business activity, the company needed premises larger than its humble Dingli base. A plot of land in Attard was acquired in 1989 and a purpose-built showroom on three levels was constructed with an internal floor area of over 3,000 square metres. In 1992, the new premises opened its doors for business, consisting of a street-level showroom and offices while the first floor and basement are used as stores, including a dedicated workshop. The company’s team grew in line with the clientele’s demand. Similarly, the portfolio of products expanded to include gardening equipment, cleaning equipment, barbecues and outdoor furniture.
